There are no known issues relating to Network connectivity on the SchoolZone system.
SchoolZone Web Browsing
There are no known issues relating to web browsing using the SchoolZone system. Some issues with local browsers returning unusal pages can be fixed by refreshing the local browser cache - in IE use Ctrl-F5.
SchoolZone Email
There may be time-out issues sending email. Email will probably send on the next attempt. A patch is being developed and SchoolZone is waiting for this patch to be available.
When using /myMail there are issues with sending to groups when the group is big. Do not rename any folders in /myMail as this will delete the folder and its contents.
SchoolZone Spam
There is a current issue delivering incorrectly filtered spam - this will be resolved with Service Pack 58.6 on 13 October 2007. Please use the "Forward as" feature as a work-around. The spam filters are being constantly tuned to cope with new spam formats.
SchoolZone Planned Events
SchoolZone will be undergoing system maintenance on Friday 2 November between 6pm and 5am (3 Nov). This is to perform upgrades on the SchoolZone servers in order to address a number of issues and raise the patch level to SP58.7. During this time there will be disruptions to services and outages are to be expected. We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause. Please note – the outages will not compromise your network security in any manner. Should you experience any problems at this time, please phone: 0800 755 966 Opt 4
The issues that are to be resolved are:
1. mymail folders deleted when renamed
This has been fixed.
2. Sending an email to a group in mymail not working
This has been fixed.
3. php error message generated with Apache2
As a result of the Debian Sarge upgrade Php was by default showing errors due to its configuration setting.
This has been fixed.
4. Editing Portflio view returns Broken XML
This has been fixed.
5. Allocation of properties issue
When a property is created as administrator, when fixing to the desktop, the region selected for fixing changes.
This has been fixed.
6. Calendar property index improvement
Performance issues reported with calendar properties. This has been fixed.
7. Authenticated email SMTP fails
Attempting to use authenticated smtp casuses Postfix's smtpd process to fail. Email users prompted to authenticate multiple times. This has been fixed.
8. mydesktop FAQ property, questions not appearing
Mysuite error "No Frequently Asked Questions have been added to this property." when a question is added to FAQ.
9. SINA misconfigured and issues with email when sending to SINA mail lists
A fix has been developed to address the SINA misconfigured error experienced by users in the browser and errors encountered when emailing to SINA lists. This fix addresses recent issues associated with Percolator and Resolver.
10. Forwarding ‘false-SPAM’ out of the admin mailbox not working
Issue found when PHP errors displayed on browser for apache2.
This has been fixed
The issues that were resolved by the SP58.6 upgrade on 13 October were:
1. SINA Misconfigured / Percolator does not run on Kernel 2.6.
Since the upgrade of the kernel from 2.4 to 2.6, the Percolator has been crashing.
After the SIF Sarge upgrade, certain error messages began appearing in specific log files, indicating an error condition where none existed.
The actual cause is still under investigation.
The workaround for this problem is to run the Percolator in 2.4 Compatibility Mode, with the following line added to the configuration file: LD_ASSUME_KERNEL="2.4.31"
This prevents the Percolator from crashing within the short amount of time it has been.
2. Filesbox Default Sort Order is Case Sensitive
The default sort order in the Filesbox is now case insensitive, so files beginning with ‘A’ or ‘a’ will come before ‘B’ and ‘b’.
3. Trash Folder not emptying automatically overnight
The Trash Folder can now be emptied automatically overnight.
4. Issue with deleting mail to meet quota
Administrators would receive a warning message when using "Quota delete email" regarding users still not meeting quota requirements. Purging user's mailbox would fix the problem but users do not expect this when deleting mail for quota reasons and from administration web page.
This has been fixed.
5. High load on midb server causing slow response time for Mydesktop/Myclasses/MyMail
Background: For large databases, certain queries start to become slow.
Proposed Change: Add an index to the column "acl" in the "metadata" table.
6. Properties with unnecessary spaces
When editing the title of a property and saving it without making any changes there are extra carriage returns inserted by the software. They aren't supposed to be there and they can't be removed using the interface.
Proposed change: Modify the template to not display.
This has been fixed.
7. Changes to email address links in the profile property
Links are populated incorrectly in the profile page, and all email "mailto" links have changed since starting with the new mail package, so people using hard coded links in text and image area will find that their links no longer work.
This has been fixed.
8. Nagios Test check_dns is incorrect
The new nagios check_dns test has the parameters swapped around when compared with the older tests.
Proposed change: Adjust the parameter order to match the require test.
This has been fixed.
9. Reporting issue: Software Modifications to Opmon Sla engine
Changes to reporting required the output of a script to be modified.
This has been fixed.
10. PHP allows remote execution of commands as privileged users.
This has been fixed.
11. Epistula imap should allow users from local admin host only
When a customer was migrated from one ADM box to another, it was found that a quota daemon was dying every minute. This is because DNS changes had not propagated and POP3 requests were still coming into the old ADM box. The quota daemon couldn't handle this and would die.
Proposed change: Add a call to resolv_local between connecting to resolver and querying resolver in the authentication code in dovecot.
This has been fixed.
12. Mail from MI is rejected for users with Send/Receive School Only=Yes
Mail from myclasses doesn't arrive in a student's inbox if they have Send/Receive School Only = Yes.
This has been fixed.
13. Mymail property is displaying all entries in a users inbox instead of the top 5/6
Proposed change: write a POP proxy to sit on adm boxes that only listens to mi and passes on request via the known master password. This to get round the problem the mail client require passwords for requests external to it. Alter the Email property so that it uses standard POP requests to fetch the data.
This has been fixed.
14. Mymail does not know how to handle HTML messages when forwarding
When trying to forward a HTML message by clicking forward, it does not get interpreted correctly; the only way the message can be seen correctly is to for ward the message as an attachment. This issue has been sighted through having to forward mail messages from the "Filtered Spam" folder.
This has been fixed.
15. Resolver is finding customers on other adms
Resolver gets confused about which customers it owns.
This has been fixed.
No Service Pack upgrades are planned. The next Service Pack will be SP59 and this will support RSS and Podcasts. SP60 will support https filtering and SINA LDAP.
