SchoolZone Platform Filter Upgrade - 15 September 2006Posted on 18 September 2006 2006 Updating Filtering categories The SchoolZone Web Filtering Categories have been updated. There are now considerably more filtering categories available than previously and some web sites were recategorised by SecureComputing who manage our lists, while others that were not previously categorised have now been placed into a category. When browsing you may now get a message saying that a particular website has been blocked by eg the 'Games, Sport' category:
To allow access to this website by changing the category filtering is a simple task. You will need to log into your school's SINA Administration account and then either modify filtering categories for a user, a group or the whole school.
To change a user or group categories, click the User Manager button; to change settings for the whole school click the SINA Options button. If changing users or groups select the 'view' hyperlink on the User Accounts or Group line as shown below.
Next choose your user or group to modify by clicking the 'View' button for that user or group and then click the 'here' hyperlink on the Web filtering Categories line as shown below.
You may now select categories for the user or group. A category which is ticked will be blocked. Categories in the 'Exceptions' area will be allowed if they are ticked.
Remember to click the 'Save' button when you have finished. The new categories will be available after about five minutes.
In the SINA Options area you can set the default categories for the school in the same way - use the School Settings link, then select Web Filtering Categories - View or Customise |
